Make A Pledge

UPDATE:

For Those of You Who Have Already Made a Pledge to A Campaign for Hampshire:

We want first and foremost to thank you again for your generosity. The confidence you have conveyed in Hampshire at this very challenging time in its history has already helped to steady and embolden the College as it charts a course to remain independent and experimenting.

It is now time to turn our promises into tangible gifts under the terms of our individual pledges. The Board of Trustees’ vote to focus on independence, an exciting Re-Envisioning Plan, and recent conversations with interim President Ken Rosenthal and the College’s Advancement team, persuade us that our gifts will well advance the goals our Campaign articulated when we began our effort several months ago.

Click here to fulfill your pledge now.

Otherwise, you will hear directly from Hampshire by email very soon with instructions about how to confirm your pledge and make your gift. If you have any questions for us, please feel free to email us at campaignforhampshire@gmail.com.

DONOR INTENT AGREEMENT

A Campaign for Hampshire College, Inc. is a fundraising platform created by a group alumni and friends of the College in the wake of President Miriam Nelson’s announcement on January 15, 2019 that the College would not accept an entering class for Fall 2019 and she and the Board of Trustees were proceeding with plans to seek a “strategic partner” for a merger. Nelson has argued that Hampshire’s financial situation is so precarious that the College must either merge or close. We disagree. Our goal is to raise enough money to keep the College open, with faculty and staff intact, so that the community may engage in a rational, inclusive, and just process of deciding how to secure the college’s future.

Your commitment will be to support the operation of the College going forward and to help ensure its long-term sustainability. Your Donor Intent Form will be held by A Campaign for Hampshire College, Inc. until there is certainty about the future and an administration is in place committed to saving Hampshire College. You will not be asked to honor this pledge unless Hampshire College’s existence as an autonomous institution with its original mission intact is assured. When Hampshire’s independent status is reaffirmed, you hereby agree to honor this donor intent agreement as indicated below. Pledges are payable over up to five years.

*In consideration of the campaign to save Hampshire College, I hereby pledge $, payable as follows: annual installments of $ with the first payment due upon notice that Hampshire College will remain open and the balance due in annual installments payable on or before December 31 of each year.

If you are more than one person sharing this pledge, please enter a second name:

Is Hampshire College in your will or are you considering a future bequest?
If so, are you adding a stipulation that Hampshire College remain independent with its original mission intact?
We are not asking you to state the amount of any present or future bequest. We are hearing from alums who are altering their wills to reflect their wish that the College remain independent. It would add to the strength of our Campaign to show how many alumni are considering this option.
